Warm Spiced Mulled Wine

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle (750 ml) Molly Morgan Shiraz
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 orange, zested and juiced
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 4 green cardamom pods
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 whole star anise
  • ¼ cup brandy
  • Orange slices, for garnish

To serve:

  • Cinnamon sticks, for garnish

Method

  1. In a large pot, combine the wine, apple cider, honey, orange zest, and juice. Stir gently to mix.
  2. Add the cloves, cardamom pods, cinnamon sticks, and star anise.
  3. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium-high heat. Once simmering, reduce the heat to low and let it continue to simmer for 30 minutes. Be careful not to let it boil.
  4. Stir in the brandy just before serving.
  5. Ladle into mugs and garnish with orange slices and cinnamon sticks as desired.
