A relaxed tasting experience
A Hunter Valley wine tasting at Molly Morgan Wines is a relaxed tasting experience: $10 per person for six wines. Set among the grape vines with views to the Brokenback Mountain Range, our boutique winery is made for slow sips, good company, and an easy Hunter Valley experience. Whether you're local, up from Sydney for the weekend or travelling with the dog and kids, here's what you'll taste, how booking works and what to know before you go.
Lovedale, in Australia's oldest wine region
The Hunter Valley is Australia's oldest wine region, with the first vines planted in the 1820s, and Semillon and Shiraz are its signature varieties, with Chardonnay a long part of its history too. According to Visit NSW, the valley has more than 150 wineries, and Lovedale is one of its three main wine areas, alongside Pokolbin and Broke-Fordwich. Pokolbin has the highest concentration of wineries, which makes Lovedale a more relaxed side of Hunter Valley wine country, for wine lovers who'd rather taste without the rush. Semillon was the first variety planted on our vineyard, in 1963.
You don't need any wine knowledge for a tasting here: the team shares the story behind all the wines you try. Di and Adam Loong own the vineyard, and Daniel Binet is our Chief Winemaker.

Our cellar door is all about slowing down and enjoying the moment. You'll be welcomed with genuine hospitality, unhurried tastings and plenty of time to discover the stories behind each wine!
Single vineyard wines
Many of the wines you'll taste are single-vineyard expressions grown on our Lovedale vineyard, alongside a carefully selected range that showcases the broader Hunter Valley. Together, they tell the story of the region we proudly call home.
Add a cheese board
For an extra indulgence, why not add a cheese board to your tasting? It's the perfect complement to our wines.
Pet & family friendly
Molly Morgan Wines is proudly pet friendly and family friendly, so everyone is welcome to enjoy the experience. As we're a working vineyard, we simply ask that dogs remain on a lead and children are supervised while exploring the property.

Your tasting flight is six wines from our range, and it changes with the seasons and new releases. It could include:
Lime, citrus blossom and racy, refreshing acidity. The Hunter's signature white.

Hand-picked, with citrus, white peach and stone fruit, and a touch of French oak.

Made from our Shiraz. Pale, crisp and dry, with bright berries and a hint of strawberries and cream.
RoséOur newest sparkling, joining the tasting flight soon.

Our tribute to Molly Morgan, the Queen of the Hunter. A traditional method sparkling rosé made from hand-picked single vineyard Shiraz.
Sparkling
Blackberry, dark cherry and plum, with gentle spice, supple tannins and a savoury, earthy edge.

Make it a wine and cheese tasting
Food and wine pairing is part of a Hunter Valley visit, and ours keeps it simple: add a curated cheese board for two to share, and slow the whole tasting experience down with a local cheese and wine pairing.

Our outdoor tables sit right alongside the vineyard. You might even spot a kangaroo or two.
Dog and family friendly wine tasting in the Hunter Valley
Bringing your dog
We're a dog friendly winery. Dogs are welcome on a lead, because the property has wildlife and open dams.
Arrow, our Head of Cellar Door Pats, is usually first to welcome you with a wagging tail.
Bringing the kids
Children are welcome as long as they're supervised, because we're a working vineyard. Under-18s can't taste.
Designated drivers and non-drinkers
We pour tea and coffee for designated drivers and non-drinkers, and the rest of the group tastes at their own pace. It's an easy way to share a Hunter Valley day when not everyone is drinking. If nobody wants to drive, an organised wine tour or a transfer will get you here.

Live in Newcastle or the Hunter Valley? Weekday appointments and free tastings for wine club members make us an easy winery to come back to, and you can join the wine club right there at the cellar door.

Thursday to Sunday: 10am to 5pm. Bookings preferred. Walk-ins welcome when space allows.

Getting here
Our Lovedale winery and cellar door are at 496 Talga Road, about 50 minutes' drive from Newcastle, 25 minutes from Maitland and around 10 minutes from the centre of Pokolbin. Parking is available on site, with wheelchair-accessible parking, entry and seating.
